New Artist Maino Interviews

Posted by cp On July - 3 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Maino broke down why he plans to carry New York on his back.

“When you think of New York, you think of certain artists that have been around for years,” Maino explained in an interview. “I don’t have no problems with them because they paved the way for a dude like me. But all I’m saying is they’ve done what they’ve done already. They made their mark in the game, they made their money, they made the opportunities, they fed their family, it’s time to bring New York forward…I feel like right now I’m the future. I’m one of the new faces of New York, if not the only one right now. What other new artist you seeing from New York who has music that’s rapping, not singing?” (Hard Knock TV) Read the rest of this entry »

We fighting against other genres,” Rule declared in an interview. “We fightin’ against motherf*ckin’ rock. We fightin’ against pop. We fightin’ against these other genres of music. We need to be together as a whole and not separating ourselves between West and East and South. I think New York is making a strong comeback right now. I think we doin’ our thing, we got Maino, we got Red Cafe. I think New York is making a surgence. I got my acts outta New York, I’m coming with a crazy album right now. But you know as a whole, it’s not about New York…it’s about hip-hop.” (57th Ave)

source:MTV

During an interview with MTV for their Mixtape Daily segment, the Compton rapper explained that his long-running beef with 50 Cent is done, and he doesn’t plan to ever jump back on it.

“I’m just now rebounding from the whole beef with G-Unit, 50 and all of that,” the Game said. “Say if the beef with G-Unit was an airplane, I just landed. I just got off that plane. I didn’t even get my bag out the baggage claim. I walked away, I left the bags, man.”

He goes on to apologize, not just to Fiddy, but to everyone under the Interscope umbrella who’s feathers got ruffled during the two rap stars’ feud.

At least, that’s how he felt this day.

“This is probably the first and last time ya’ll gonna hear me say this. For 50, I’m just gonna apologize to him, just as a man,” Game told MTV. “It has nothing to do with music, or beef, or nothing like that. It ain’t about being the bigger man. He can take it and say, ‘Game is apologizing,’ ‘Game’s a sucka, he’s apologizing.’ I’m apologizing for me to him, to [Dr.] Dre, to Jimmy Iovine, to Eminem, to our fans. Because if you think about what Interscope was when we were gellin’, man we were it. We were an unstoppable force.”Jimmy always says, ‘Man, I told you guys not to break up the Beatles,’ ” Game said. “He says he told John Lennon the same thing a long time ago. But I was young, man. I was dumb. I did a lot of dumb things. I felt me and 50 clashed. I’m not gonna dis 50. I’m not gonna go back on the plane. He had his side, I had my side. I did what I felt was necessary for me and my career to have longevity and survive in hip-hop and music to be around when I’m Quincy Jones’ age — not just be Quincy Jones’ age, but be a Quincy Jones. Now, four albums in, I can honestly say from Banks to Buck to Dre to Yayo to whoever, if it would have kept going, endless paper. Millions of albums sold — because we were great together. Me and 50’s chemistry was like how Method Man was to Redman when they get in. You know when Method Man gets with Redman, it’s going down.”

True, the Unit, when they were a five-man squad (that’s with Game and Buck), were absolutely unstoppable. We’re still rocking that All Eyez on Us G-Unit Radio Part 5 mixtape.

“It is what KRS-One was with Scott La Rock,” Game added, describing his time with 50. “When you take Ralph Tresvant from New Edition and Bobby Brown goes this way, you might get a Bell Biv DeVoe, but you won’t get no ‘Candy Girl.’ You won’t get no ‘Mr. Telephone Man.’ You ain’t gonna get no ‘Hate It or Love It,’ you won’t get ‘How We Do.’ As a family, we had it. If we never [broke] up, I think Detox would have been out and we all would have been selling millions from Banks to Buck, Tony Yayo. I’m gonna apologize for my role.”

Just a few weeks ago, 50 told us he has no desire to entertain the Game. Maybe Dre or Iovine can get these guys together again?

Against All Odds Lola Monroe Interview

Posted by cp On June - 24 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

WeLoveHipHop.com caught up with angel Lola last week for a conversation, to talk about her past, present, and very bright future.

WLHH: For those that may not know, where are you from?

LM: I was born in Ethiopia, but raised in D.C

WLHH: For those that follow you on Twitter, they saw a pic of you and Soulja Boy in the studio last night(click here to view), can you speak on the project you two were working on?

LM: We were recording some material. It came w/ a dope record. I can’t really speak on it yet, but be on the look out for it real soon!

lola-monroe111WLHH: Making the transition from modeling to the rap game is certainly not one that is taken often. When did you know it was time to make that jump into starting your rap career?

LM: If you go back to my previous interviews in publications, I have always said that I was going to go in this direction. I’ve been writing in some form since I was 12 years old. Music has always been apart of me, but I knew it was time to make the move when I did.

WLHH: For those that may ask, why should we be checkin for Lola Monroe’s music, what would be your answer?

LM: Theres a void in the game right now. I feel like everybody brought something diff, from Lil Kim to Foxy Brown, to MC Lyte and Queen Latifah. Everyone has their own swag, just like me. To me, it’s not just about music. I have a movement, Boss Bitches World, and my first mixtape represents that.

WLHH: The rap game is just like any business, there are more people that envy and hate you than will show support. Among your female peers, have any reached out to show love and help you in your new career?

LM: I recently did an interview with RealTalkNY, and MC Lyte talked to me, and definitely gave me some good advice. I’ve had some artists I was cool with before I got in the game, and once I started making moves in the music industry, they started acting funny.Photo Gallery

Bun B Interview Vibe

Vibe
60 RAPPERS IN 60 DAYS: Bun B

Bun B clarifies what he told Vibe about there being only 6 rappers that are actually making money right now:

-Jay-Z
-Kanye West
-Lil Wayne
-Young Jeezy
-T.I.
-Ludacris

Honorable mentions to Flo-Rida, Soulja Boy, as well as will.i.am.

I can’t sit around, thinking I’m all that, cause I was on Big Pimpin’, that was 10 years ago.. what did you do yesterday G?

Texas’ trillest rap veteran has a hectic schedule
previous article Clipse Jadakiss next article

Bun B is busy. Between hopping on your favorite rapper’s songs and a year-round touring schedule, the surviving half of UGK hasn’t even had time to work on his third solo effort yet. Since the release of his legendary duo’s booming last album, 4 Life (Jive), Bun’s featured on the year’s best mixtape, and will show up on a gang of upcoming cuts. Right before he jumped on a plane to Toronto to perform with Drake, Bernard “Bun B” Freeman, 36, dialed up VIBE to talk about why Houston isn’t the only city with a rap problem, why hip hop of the future won’t be labeled, and spilled the beans on the songs he’ll feature on this summer—if he can remember all of them.

VIBE: Texas had a hot streak a while back with Slim Thug, Mike Jones, and Paul Wall. It’s slowed down a bit since then. How do you feel about Texas’ place in rap?

Bun B: I wonder if people who ask Southern artists that [also] ask West coast artists or Midwest artists or New York artists that, because all those regions are falling off. Hip hop, in general, doesn’t have the demand power it used to in any region. We had a good run in Houston, but every region’s in trouble. There are really only six people making money off rap music. Everybody knows that.

Who is the artist most likely to bring the light back to Houston?

I definitely think that Z-Ro is on the brink of becoming a national superstar. It’s pretty much up to him to decide whether he goes as far as he wants to go. The only thing holding Z-Ro back is Z-Ro.

You were on the year’s hottest mixtape—Drake’s So Far Gone. What do you think he brings to hip hop?
